What are the determinants of the value of a new wrist watch?

For example, why a Rolex is usually automatic more expensive than automatic Omega and cheaper to a Patek Philippe (assuming there are no diamonds or gold on the watch)? I know that a quartz watch has an accuracy always better, but the mechanism is very simple. So why can we find very expensive quartz watches (eg Rolex Omega)?
