How to find Kali / Escrima / Arnis Full-Contact Sparring helmet?
I was hoping someone could help me. A few years ago I took a course where we practiced Kali full-contact sparring, and we wore helmets with the metal cage on the face to use Kali with rattan sticks. In my mind I seem to remember that the helmets used in this school was wood or metal on the crown (top) of the head, but I recently bought a helmet has foam padding only. So here are my questions: 1. Kali sparring helmets normally have wood / metal on top of head? 2. And nobody knows where I can buy one? (All web sites that sell helmets kali would be helpful, and please do not tell me to just search Google) thank you very much
Well, actually, it does not matter. Kali's not like Kendo where there is a Board of Directors that requires some special equipment for training, hence the proliferation of schools and styles of Kali (yes, they are not immune to this syndrome is Mcdojo). Try the Doce Pares Eskrima school If I remember correctly, the Canete brothers Visayas have played a role in promoting competition and Eskrima with all caps in the 80s.
