Powerline & switch combination possible?

I have an interesting question but I guess it will work. I'm on the network powerline in my house, down a cable modem connected to a wireless router, a port goes to a network element in current network holder that is fed upstairs to the receiving computer. However, I have several ports on the floor for a few more components. Can I share this connection with a power line off at the switching stage and still retain the power line connection or is it better how to network your home? I used to have the entire network to the floor, but I could never get a solid connection who remain live, even with a pre-N or a wide range wireless router G

I do not see why it would not work. If you have a good connection on the power line to a switching device, as you suggest should be good.
