If an epidural makes you immune from the waist down, how do you give birth?

Just curious! I was reading about epidurals and trying to weigh the pros and cons / what is best for baby (I have never given birth before). And I read that the epidural to numb you so how can you push them to give birth? Thank you in advance for replies:)

It depends on the epidural – some you can walk with (epidural ambulatory), others you do not feel about it. My mother said when she had hers, she had to be told when to push by the midwife and was told he wanted to do a poo * l * (sorry, but that's what she said!). You just sort of push even more if you feel to do so – the midwife (or someone else takes care of you) will let you know how. And at least he no pain and drugs do not cross the placenta so there is no risk of your baby junkie (just another reason why I'm having so I need it!)
