Module Multi level parking in urban areas
With the advancement of science and technology, the number of cars and other vehicles on the roads rose in all cities of the world. Urban roads built in the past of old traditional way have proved incapable of accommodating many more vehicles. Existing towns also lack the ease of parking, because of where vehicles are parked along the edge of roads, residential streets, footpaths and verges of roads causing frequent traffic jams.
The precious time of workers is wasted due to congestion and if this problem is not resolved at this stage, it would become a serious and complicated in the future. Lack of funds may be the problem comes from the way local authorities for the execution of development projects. To solve the above problems, the adoption of "multi-level Parking Unit "as described below is recommended.
• Local authorities have to identify development sites adjacent to that main business districts to create more complex level parking. If the land acquired is not available, after conducting to feasibility studies, regions could be chosen for the construction of these complexes below green spaces, parks and even below the influence roads. In these regions, several complex level parking should be built underground, taking the basement level 2-3 without disrupting applications land at the existing surface.
• In the case even if the open space and parks are not available, then multi-level parking complex be constructed below the Agglomeration without disturbing the existing buildings on the model constructed underground stations for Delhi Metro Rail. To make such a decision feasibility study must be conducted by the specialized agency.
• The problem of organization funds for the construction and operation of complex parking can be solved by allowing construction, operation and maintenance of these projects on a BOT basis. Spaces of surface parking in most cities especially near railway stations, bus stops, shopping centers have already been marketed. Therefore, these projects can be executed by private individuals on a commercial basis by obtaining permission CLU. Govt. should also develop a policy for the promotion of several complex parking level giving special discount / concession fee and CLU development.
• To make such projects economically viable, about 10 percent of total floor area of these projects may be allowed to be exploited commercially by the private developer to ensure that these facilities could be promoted.
• "Modern automatic computerized technique for parking the vehicle parking within the complex should be adopted by the installation of lift systems so that the maximum number of cars could be integrated into the minimum space. In areas controlled complex multi-level parking can be established by obtaining CLU permissions. For the remainder of the study points to "Haryana Town Planning Guide" is recommended.
