Why is it not smart to do heavy weight training when you are under 16?

exercise specialists say that Young boys should not make a lot of heavy weight training is before age 16. Why do they give this advice?

Pure bull that stunts growth Exercise – look at all these big football players – they lifted weights when he is young and does not look stunted. Not sure where this idea came, but it is certainly in recent years. Never heard 30 years ago, and all of us farm boys have worked hard and raised tons of hay all time and we do not have a problem growing.
