What must we do to get this engine?
Now it's easy to assume that the engine Ford does not match up to the Chevys. We found our Hot Rods engine and trans mounts to Chasssis genius. They come with hardware instructions and simple. Ford is part of our "X" shaped and has a support that reinforces the "X" where it cuts the frame. The original should be drilled and refurbished with the work of conversion.
Get-together
Our conversion parts aligned well with the original holes. We needed to expand holes to install the bolts and drill new holes, but overall, it's not too bad, just a little harder with the body of the car. The lower control arms must be brought to our support center so different and renovation supports are available to do so. The motor mounts are installed by a schema. Measure twice and drill once. This is very easy to do.
he Model
We had access to a junk engine and trans for an adjustment. If not available, do not worry. Just use what you have and be a little more careful. Our engine and transmission fit perfectly without surprises and beautiful appearance. Check all permissions, including firewalls. Chevys have a distributor at the rear to ensure there are no clearance problems of firewalls. Authorities exhaust are large and the steering column will not be in the way of something.
What's it like?
Our Chevy motor / trans combo weighs about the same as the flathead, so the ride height is roughly the same. The dimensions of transmission are very similar, but remember that the configuration radiator is different with a Chevy. There should be no problem of height as the hood of the Ford is very big and great.
The final preparation
Once the simulated engine and trans are removed, we took the time to sand the brush painted engine compartment. We did some bodywork around the holes welded and small dents. Again, it depends on what you want your finished product look like. Use a good wax and grease remover for a final wipe. We have chosen to put a primer before applying two coats of satin black. This will allow a focus on the engine and keep also with the look of the factory.
Engine and trans painting
Since we're painting, now is the perfect time to paint your engine and trans. Again, we chose the factory lead sled look and painted the engine of a dark green, while leaving the trans satin and black. Our engine was brand new, so we took the time to clean up and preparation before painting. Even with the trans. If you do not have a cabin paint, allowing a good day or two for the paint to dry sufficiently. Dont rush this part because it is ruining the final product you have worked so hard to achieve.
