Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
A new profession has emerged in recent years, including the title seems more like a karate instructor at a professional enterprise. This is called the Six Sigma Black Belt.
After years of use by large companies, Six Sigma is used by medium-sized companies and small. This led to the proliferation of Six Sigma training of many types and depths.
There is a six sigma green belts, yellow belts, black belts and master black belts. Add to that the word lean and you have four or more titles, such Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
Karate jargon mean depth of training and competence. The green belt has some understanding of statistical tools and a lot of measurement and data collection for Six Sigma projects. The black belt is a mentor and coach of the Green Belt, using their time level higher and more complex analysis and work on the soft side as influence and drive change in the workplace.
Master Black Belt Coach and trains other black belts. Master Black Belt often helps guide the organization to develop human resources and ensures proper training of Six Sigma Black Belts.
The band is the most common Six Sigma Black Belt, which became known as the authority to conduct Six Sigma projects.
Six Sigma was used as a tool to improve business for over two decades. However, it was mainly used in close few large companies across the business, such as Motorola and GE.
As with most business methods and approaches, six sigma has had growing pains. Some companies report huge successes, while others have abandoned the initiative altogether.
There are several reasons for both successes and failures. The reason almost always boils down to management. If management has little commitment and only a vague understanding of six sigma, then chances are it will fail.
Another major problem is that six sigma training varies considerably by agency training. Six Sigma Black Belt training is conducted by hundreds of training companies, individual companies, universities and colleges, and some organizations such as ASQ and IQF.
The American Society for Quality (ASQ) has developed a "body of knowledge" and certification test for black belts. Corporate training their own black belts make up their own program. Training institutions often determine what they believe the best use of a shorter training. Colleges and Universities also vary considerably in their training.
Many Six Sigma Black Belt course is held over four weeks. While this may be sufficient for an industrial engineer to understand the tools, many students experience difficulty learning the material and, finally, have difficulty in applying six sigma.
During six sigma online training also vary. Benefits an online course, there is absolutely no time constraint. The material is often more detailed and presented in detail. Students may continue to review the documents until it is learned. The disadvantage is the same as all online courses, which is the commitment personal self-motivation.
It is preferable to determine the material to be covered in the course. Any type of format course can work. Make sure it is compatible with business needs and is presented in sufficient detail to learn six sigma well enough to implement in the field.
Beyond obtaining the certification, it is important to have a variety of hardware reference. There are many good books written about six sigma. Most Six Sigma Black Belts have two books and technical implementation. There are simply too many as six sigma and lean manufacturing tools to remember the proper application of each of the memory.
Once certification is complete, it is essential keep in mind the reason companies use Six Sigma. They do it for "impact". They want business improvement, either by financial savings with cost reductions, additional production, improved quality, greater capacity, faster throughput, or other metrics.
Six Sigma Black Belt certification can be enriching, rewarding and worthwhile. Invest the time to understand the subject to provide.
