Should I wear an extra link in the chain in my bike bag?

I want to be ready if I'm riding my bike away from home. Normally travel 40 miles on the weekend. I wear flat kit .. but do I also make additional chain link and a cutting tool? Thank you!

I always carry a chain breaker and a master link. In nearly thirty years of bike riding, I used the chain breaker twice. Not on my bike. I do carry two spare tubes, patch kit, allen keys, spoke wrench, and a pump. If I ride my tandem I carry a spare wheel. And of course a cell phone Good Luck
