Why do many U.S. taekwondo martial arts?
I know there are many many more martial arts. but like 75% martial arts schools here in Washington are taekwondo. and 50% of them are probably mcdojos. I do not understand because most of the blocks tae kwon do, kicking, punching and are the same as karate. And Kung Fu is the best self-defense, self-focus, calm martial art in my opinion. 61 years old judo / jiu jitsu submission wrestling Japanese instructor by my boxing gym can practically kick my ass and dodge everything I do in a simple position and pattern book or break my hand, wrist or arm.
Whenever you write something, you drive another nail in the coffin who is your illusions about your art and your ranking in it. It's a good thing. I would not be surprised if you here one day and told you to stop tae kwon do and opted for something better. If you think kung fu is the best, then why the hell you are in tkd? The reason the number of mcdojos is something commercial. Many customers with lots of money and a lot of ego. Tae kwon do taught by these mcdojos is easy, requires nothing more than give you your money and then presto! You have a black belt in less than 2 years and the illusion that you're a kick ass fighter, and your black belt in tae kwon do is the equivalent any other black belt in any martial art. You think 50% is mcdojos? I would guess and say at least 90% + would mcdojos! One last thing. The kicks and punches are definitely not the same as karate! The final nail is that the year 61 guy who owns the ass every time you fight. You're lucky that you are given the opportunity in a safe environment to see the gaps in your training. I strongly suggest you take this opportunity with both hands! For Suakaow ……… Olympic TKD is not something I brag if I you. Olympic TKD is largely contributed to should be a source of great embarrassment and shame to all serious practitioners of tae kwon do. For example … Surely you were embarrassed when, in a fit rage, the best technique as the Cuban competitor (last Olypmics) could gather was that god-awful, roundhouse kick piss-weak that nothing more than draw a little blood from the referee?? The fact that TKD is held in low esteem, for example by the wider community of martial arts has nothing to do with jealousy (as many seem to think) and everything to do with his appalling shamelessness.
