Do you prefer to use gel-pads or lamb's wool?
Right now I'm using lambswool. I would try the gel pads, but I want to know if people prefer the wool of lambs more. So if you answer that would be great! 
Gel buffer FINAL cover up the pain when the tip! If you are a beginner, I suggest you use wool until lamb what you used to be on the tip for beginners because it is important to feel the ground. So it really depends on what you want, and how this will affect your performance.
